Tips to save energy at home

  • Lower thermostats to 68F in the winter and raise them to 78F during the summer.
  • Have your furnace and A/C equipment tuned-up before each heating and cooling season.
  • Replace return air filters when appropriate.
  • Install ceiling fans to supplement air conditioning use.
  • Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL's) or light-emitting diodes (LED's).
  • Set the water heater thermostat to 120F or lower.
  • Drain your water heater tank every six months to reduce sediment buildup and increase heating efficiency.
  • Install a tankless on-demand water heater.
  • Wash clothes in cold water.
  • Install and maintain window and door weatherstripping
  • Install efficient showerheads and toilets.
